Book and Notebook: Agri-food Systems and the Amazon

A project implemented by A Concerted Agreement for the Amazon e iCS, with the aim of promoting a qualified and informed debate on the connections between food production and consumption in the Amazon with culture, deforestation, health, human well-being and climate, identifying recommendations and concrete actions that increase access to diverse and nutritious foods and expand forest areas in the territories.

Book
Launched at COP30, the book comprises a collection of 12 chapters (from 15 organizations) that offer multidisciplinary reflections on food production and consumption in the Amazon and identify pathways to promote a just and sustainable transition of agri-food systems. Ana Barezi and Beatriz Duarte are the authors of chapter 9., Rural-urban connections: pathways to facilitate access to nutritious and sustainable food. This chapter presents urban and peri-urban agriculture as a viable alternative to expand access to healthy food, highlighting the role of public policies in strengthening it.


Recommendations Booklet
An executive document that translates the reflections from the book into concrete recommendations and actions.

It serves as a practical guide to draw attention to the issue, guide decisions, and develop policies. subnational public entities and partnerships.
